Stop Loss: Stuck in the Service

Lietta Ruger, a member of Military Families Speak Out of Washington state had much to say about the war in Iraq. She has a son-in-law and nephew serving right now in Germany, waiting to be re-deployed to Iraq.

"Two loved ones in our family of Iraq Veterans, served 15-month extended tours in Iraq. When Cindy lost her son, Casey, our 2 with the 1st Armoured Division, were extended. They were told that under "Stop Loss"policy they had immediate orders for second deployments to Iraq and that they wouldn't be able to come home. I came from Washington state to Camp Casey on Tuesday and have been privileged to stand with Cindy and her message to bring Iraq front and center in the American conscious. Cindy represents an ideal and the heartfelt outpouring from across the country speaks to an America that is showing support and feeling hope and yearn to stand with Cindy. It has been nothing short of amazing to stand in this moment in history with our own courageous Cindy Sheehan. Cindy, you know I love you...your west coast friend. We will bring our troops home!"

It's beginning to seem like this is no longer a volunteer army. If the majority of enlisted men and women are being forced back to Iraq aren't we increasing their chances of injury and death?
